President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).

A statement issued by the Spokesperson for the President, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, on Thursday, January 16, disclosed that Gyamfi's appointment comes with a key responsibility to oversee the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

The initiative is a flagship promise of the NDC, outlined in its manifesto prior to the December 7 election.

Sammy Gyamfi is a seasoned lawyer and Economic Policy Analyst, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He also possesses a Barrister-at-Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law and a Master’s degree in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana.

This appointment positions Gyamfi to play a pivotal role in advancing Ghana’s gold industry, aligning with the government's broader economic development goals.
