The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a curfew on Binduri Township and its environs in the Upper East Region, effective from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily, starting Monday, March 24, 2025.
The decision, made on the advice of the Upper East and North East Regional Security Councils, is aimed at addressing rising security concerns in the area.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Minister urged the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and Youth in Binduri to exercise restraint and seek peaceful, non-violent ways of resolving disputes.
The government emphasized the need for unity and calm as efforts are made to restore peace in the region.

As part of the security measures, the government has imposed a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the Binduri Township and its surroundings.
Additionally, the wearing of smocks and the riding of motorbikes have been prohibited. Anyone found in possession of weapons or violating these restrictions will face arrest and prosecution.
The Interior Minister called on residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure the successful enforcement of the curfew and the restoration of peace.
The government remains committed to working with local authorities and community leaders to resolve tensions and maintain stability in the area.
