"Demonstrate true leadership by condemning these shameful sctions and restoring order" – NPP to Prez. Mahama

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to demonstrate true leadership by condemning recent acts of violence and lawlessness allegedly perpetrated by elements within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a strongly worded statement, the NPP expressed deep concern over the wave of vandalism, intimidation, and abuse of power reportedly carried out by some members of the NDC.

According to Mr. Kodua Frimpong, these actions are creating unnecessary tension in the country and threatening the peace and stability Ghana has long been known for.

“These reckless and barbaric acts, which include violent invasions of private homes and offices, unlawful evictions, and car seizures, must not go unchecked. President Mahama and his government have a duty to publicly condemn these shameful actions and take the necessary steps to restore order and sanity,” the statement emphasized.

The NPP General Secretary further urged traditional authorities, religious leaders, and the diplomatic community to join in denouncing what he described as orchestrated violence by the NDC.

He reiterated the need for security agencies, particularly the Inspector General of Police, to act professionally and impartially in addressing these incidents.

“Ghana’s cherished democracy is under threat, and we cannot afford to allow such conduct to erode the foundations of our democratic values"

"The security services have a constitutional duty to protect all citizens and uphold the rule of law,” Mr. Kodua Frimpong added.

He also expressed concern over the general atmosphere of fear and instability, cautioning that such actions by a transitional government could plunge the country into chaos.

He emphasized that the NPP would continue to hold the government accountable until peace, stability, and respect for the rule of law are fully restored.

“We urge President Mahama to take immediate steps to exhibit true leadership and protect the peace and stability of this nation. Ghanaians must stand up and unequivocally condemn the NDC's orchestrated violence,” he concluded.

The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s democracy and called for swift and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
