FDA clinches four awards at 2023 Public Enterprise League Table Awards

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to regulatory excellence, emerging as the top performer at the 2023 Public Enterprise League Table Awards.

The Authority was honored with four distinguished awards, including the coveted Overall Specified Entity of the Year (Ultimate Award).

This marks the second consecutive year that the FDA has received such prestigious recognitions, further solidifying its status as a leader in the public sector.

At the glittering awards night, which took place at Kwahu and was organized by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), the FDA also scooped the following awards:

Most Efficient Other Specified Entities (OSE)

Best Other Specified Entities (OSE) Dynamic Effect (Innovative)

Other Specified Entities (OSE) of the Year

As an AUDA-NEPAD Africa Regional Center of Regulatory Excellence, the FDA's repeat performance at the awards underscores its role in ensuring public health safety while driving innovation within the regulatory space.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who graced the occasion as the guest of honour, personally presented one of the awards to the FDA.

He commended the Authority’s outstanding work in upholding high standards in the regulation of food and pharmaceuticals in Ghana.

The Public Enterprise League Table Awards, now in its second edition, were established following the enactment of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) Act 2019 (Act 990).

This legislation aims to strengthen governance and oversight of state-owned entities, and the awards are a reflection of SIGA’s commitment to promoting efficiency, innovation, and accountability within the public sector.

The FDA’s remarkable achievement is a testament to the Authority’s dedication to excellence in service delivery, reinforcing its leadership position not only in Ghana but across the African continent.
