As part of observing the National Tourism Customer Service Week within the Tourism and the Hospitality sector, the President of the Ghana Tourism Federation, Madam Bella Ahu together with the Executive Director of Service Excellence Foundation, Caleb Kofie, Former GHOTOF President, Stella Appenteng among a host of high profile industry players have officially cut a symbolic tape to commence the celebration of the 1st National Tourism Customer Service Week held at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
Addressing the dignitaries, Madam Bella disclosed that even though this week also marks the Global Customer Service Week, this is the first time such an initiative has been tailored to the needs of the Tourism sector.
She said "This is the only way to promote the tourism industry as a preferred destination of choice to the international community and paying serious attention to our customer service delivery in Ghana in other to attract more international guests is a necessity"
She further appealed to stakeholders to embrace it.
On his part, the Executive Director of Service Excellence Foundation, Caleb Kofie, who doubles as the initiator of the 1st National Tourism Customer Service week said "In furtherance to developing and promoting Customer Service Excellence as a Tourism brand and a strategic tool for Sustainable Jobs Creation, Stimulating Investor Confidence, and Accelerated Economic growth there will be the need for all business stakeholders within the Private Sector to work collaboratively in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism Art and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority in driving the customer service excellence agenda"
He added that, over the years, the role of customer service within the Tourism global market which includes allied partners within the value chain continues to serve as the key brand differentiator between business organizations.
Mr. Kofie stressed that although the global impact of COVID-19 has dramatically disrupted major customer service business routines, gallant industry employees within the Tourism and the Hospitality sector however continue to deliver services across all channels to customers hence the objective of the celebration are:
"We have to appreciate Industry Employees and Customers for their unique contributions in enhancing business growth within the Tourism and the Hospitality Sector, reward distinguished employees who champion Excellent Customer Service for their organizations and highlight the role and impact of Customer Service Delivery during the customer service week"
He hinted that National Tourism Customer Service Week ought to raise Exceptional Customer Service Delivery levels throughout the customer service week and beyond.
The General Manager of Labadi Beach Hotel, Mr. Rene Vincent Ernst took the dignitaries on a brief tour of the facility.
He highlighted the importance of customer service and their organization’s commitment to championing service excellence as key to business growth.
