The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) will open a book of condolence for its late presidential candidate, Madam Akua Donkor, at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Madam Donkor passed away on Monday at Ridge Hospital, where she had been transferred from Nsawam Government Hospital.
The GFP’s General Secretary, George Afful, shared that party officials would soon meet to decide on the next steps, adding that the public will be informed in due course.
Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, Madam Donkor’s running mate, expressed his devastation at her passing.
Madam Donkor founded the GFP in 2011, after multiple attempts in local and parliamentary elections in the Ashanti Region.
Despite challenges, she became a strong advocate for farmers and women and was known for promoting the use of the Twi language in politics.
As the third candidate on the 2024 presidential ballot, she had promised free education, support for local industries, and enhanced policies for journalists and farmers.
