Mrs. Francisca Martey, Deputy Director for Research and Applied Meteorology at the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has led a team to pay a courtesy call on King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse at the Ga Traditional Council.

The aim of the courtesy call was to discuss weather patterns and their impact on various sectors in Ghana.

Mrs. Martey revealed that the rains are expected to begin in the fourth week of March and continue through to May.

She noted that the East Coast will start experiencing rainfall from the second week of April.

She urged the public to begin clearing gutters and managing waste properly to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

She further disclosed that rainfall levels, which currently measure 270 millimetres, are projected to increase to 420 millimetres — above the seasonal average.

She called on Agricultural Extension Officers to educate farmers to prepare for climate-smart agricultural practices to mitigate potential losses.

Receiving the team, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, welcomed them and expressed gratitude for the engagement.

He commended GMet for providing valuable insights into rainfall trends and their effects on agriculture, infrastructure, and community preparedness.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II thanked the GMet team for the education and encouraged them to continue sensitizing the public on weather forecasts to help minimize the impact of flooding.

He offered prayers for the GMet team and wished them success in their work.
