Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on nurses and other healthcare professionals to maintain professionalism and uphold ethical standards in their interactions with patients, despite the challenges they face in their line of duty.

Speaking at the Winneba Municipal Hospital on Saturday, February 15, 2025, as part of his tour of the Central Region, the minister acknowledged the dedication and hard work of healthcare workers.

However, he appealed to a minority of staff who occasionally fall short of professional conduct.

“I come from a rural constituency, so I know what I am talking about. We appreciate your efforts, but irrespective of the level of provocation, we expect you to maintain a high level of professionalism,” Mr. Akandoh stated.

He urged responsible healthcare professionals to help guide their colleagues in upholding high standards of service delivery.

“It is an appeal to the few bad nuts amongst you. And as I remain the minister responsible for health, some of these issues will be taken seriously because I have had practical experiences with such situations,” he added.

Mr. Akandoh encouraged professional staff to play an active role in correcting misconduct among their peers.

“The professional ones among you, please let us be each other's keeper. If your friends, brothers, or sisters are doing the wrong thing, please advise them,” he stressed.

As part of his visit, the minister also engaged with community members in Winneba, educating them on a recent cholera outbreak and the necessary preventive measures to curb its spread.

His visit aimed to foster greater awareness and ensure that both healthcare workers and the public remain vigilant in safeguarding public health.
