The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced the termination of over 100 appointments at Ghana Post that were made after the December 7 general elections.
Speaking to the press in Parliament on Tuesday, March 24, Mr. George described the post-election appointments as a “mess” that he would not inherit, stressing the need for rationalisation within the ministry and its agencies.
“If you are a minister and you take over a ministry that has 3,117 staff in the ministry and its agencies, and 600 were recruited after December 7, you cannot expect me to come and inherit such a mess, and so the rationalisation is ongoing,” he stated.
He confirmed that the termination process was part of broader efforts to streamline operations and ensure efficiency within the sector.
“Today, I have authorised the termination of a few more at Ghana Post — almost 100 that were done post-election,” Mr. George added.
The move is expected to address staffing concerns and improve operational efficiency within the ministry and its affiliated agencies.
