Many Ghanaians on social media have reacted to calls for President Akufo-Addo to remove the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, from office.
The Majority of MPs in Parliament say this could help restore confidence in the Ghanaian economy.
Addressing the media in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, the spokesperson for the group, Andy Appiah-Kubi, who is the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, said they “will not do business with the government if the president fails to heed their call”.
Some Majority Members of Parliament have also called for the Minister of State at the ministry, Charles Adu Boahen to be removed from office as well.
Meanwhile, the Minority is also urging their counterparts in the Majority Caucus to throw their weight behind the motion to garner the two-thirds majority of 183 MPs needed to push for the Finance Minister’s removal.
Prior to that, some notable personalities and citizens have also written open letters to the Finance Minister asking him to resign amidst the economic challenges.
This development has sent shockwaves through social media as users raced to share their opinions.
Taking to Twitter, some Ghanaians shared varied opinions about the call.
