Lands Commission welcomes Prof. Anthony Owusu-Ansah as new Executive Secretary

The Lands Commission has officially welcomed Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah as its new Executive Secretary, following a brief handing-over ceremony held in Accra.


At the event, Prof. Owusu-Ansah called for collective support from staff and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in strengthening land management and administration.


"Everyone has a vital role to play in driving the Commission's vision forward," he stated.

Outgoing Executive Secretary, Mr. Benjamin Arthur, expressed his confidence in Prof. Owusu-Ansah’s leadership and urged staff to offer him the same dedication and cooperation.


"The task ahead is critical, but with unity and hard work, I believe the Commission will continue to thrive under his stewardship," Mr. Arthur remarked.


Prof. Owusu-Ansah brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to the role.

He is a Professor of Real Estate Finance and Economics and a former Head of Department at the Department of Land Economy, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).


He also served as Associate Professor and Head of Finance and Accounting at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Business School.

His academic credentials include a PhD in Real Estate from the University of Aberdeen, an MSc in Real Estate Management from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and a BSc (First Class Honours) in Land Economy from KNUST.


A professional member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Prof. Owusu-Ansah is recognized for his expertise in real estate valuation, market analysis, housing market research, and land information systems.

He has authored several international publications and a book.


The Lands Commission has expressed optimism about his appointment, looking forward to his leadership in advancing Ghana’s land administration and reform agenda.
