President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern appeal to National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters involved in unauthorized occupations of government offices and installations to desist from such actions.
Speaking at a gathering, the President emphasized the need for orderliness as his administration takes shape.
President Mahama condemned reports of looting and unlawful takeovers, urging his supporters to avoid repeating the mistakes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when they assumed office in 2017.
He stressed that the trust Ghanaians have reposed in the NDC must not be eroded by unruly behavior.
"This is why, once again, I call on all our supporters and other persons who are involved in illegal actions such as looting goods and occupying government offices and installations to desist from doing this," President Mahama said.
"We must do things differently to maintain the trust and confidence that Ghanaians have reposed in us."
President Mahama reassured the public that his government formation process is on track, with a full cabinet to be announced within 14 days.
He urged party supporters to channel any grievances or concerns through the appropriate channels once ministers and officials are appointed.
"The government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, other officials will be appointed, and as I promised, we will have a full cabinet within 14 days. If you have any issues, you can go to our ministers and have them resolved," he stated.
President Mahama's appeal underscores his commitment to maintaining peace and order during the NDC’s transition into governance, as he seeks to distinguish his leadership approach from that of his predecessors.
