President-elect, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo extended his congratulations following Mahama’s victory in the December 7 presidential election.
Speaking during his first address to the nation after being declared president-elect, Mahama expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a significant step towards ensuring a seamless transition of power.
“I received a call from President Nana Addo. He graciously extended his congratulations, and we discussed the formation of the joint transitional team, which will commence work on Wednesday, December 11,” Mahama stated.
The president-elect underscored the importance of mutual respect and collaboration in safeguarding Ghana’s democratic values. He emphasized that the call was a critical moment in fostering unity and ensuring a smooth handover of governance.
As Mahama prepares to assume office in January, he reiterated his commitment to rebuilding the nation and prioritizing reforms aimed at addressing the challenges facing Ghanaians.
