NDC rejects re-collated election results

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vehemently rejected the re-collated parliamentary election results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

The party claims the results, declared under controversial circumstances, are an affront to Ghana's democratic values and a betrayal of the people's trust.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC accused the EC, led by Jean Mensa, of deliberately manipulating the electoral process to favor the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the statement, the EC’s actions have not only compromised its credibility but also eroded public confidence in Ghana’s electoral system.

The NDC further alleged an "unholy alliance" between the EC, the police, and the military, which they claim facilitated the alleged manipulation of results.

The party criticized the EC for disregarding a Stay of Execution order issued by the court, describing the move as a blatant violation of the rule of law.

The NDC expressed disappointment with the perceived inaction of the National Peace Council and other moral and civil society organizations, accusing them of failing to address what they described as an electoral injustice.

The party also called on the international community to closely monitor the situation, warning that the EC’s actions pose a grave threat to Ghana’s peace and democratic stability.

“We will not sit idly by while the people’s mandate is stolen through questionable means. The NDC is committed to defending Ghana’s democracy and ensuring that the true will of the people prevails,” the statement emphasized.

The opposition party urged its supporters to remain resolute and prepared to defend the integrity of the December 7 general elections, which they insist reflected the authentic choice of the Ghanaian people.

The development comes amidst growing political tension, with the NDC hinting at mobilizing mass action to resist what it termed an “orchestrated subversion” of the electoral process.
