"One of my priorities is to restore peace in Bawku" - John Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace in Bawku, emphasizing that it remains one of the priorities for his administration.


Speaking during his visit to the conflict-prone area on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, President Mahama assured residents of his unwavering resolve to address the long-standing security challenges.


“Restoring peace to Bawku is one of my topmost priorities. I made this promise during the campaign, and I intend to deliver on it,” he stated.


The visit marked his first major assignment outside Accra since being sworn in as President exactly a week ago.


Mr. Mahama disclosed that his administration is working to make critical appointments to strengthen the country’s security apparatus.


“In the coming days, appointments for key positions, including the Minister of Defence, Minister of Interior, National Security Advisor, and the National Security Coordinator, will be announced. These individuals will spearhead efforts to bring lasting peace to Bawku,” the President said.


President Mahama urged the people of Bawku to exercise patience and have faith in his administration, assuring them that concrete steps are being taken to resolve the situation permanently.


“I want to assure you that my administration is fully committed to this cause. By the grace of God, permanent peace will return to Bawku,” he concluded.


The President’s visit signals a strong commitment to addressing the challenges in Bawku and fostering unity and development in the region.
