The Ghana Police Service has initiated a search for a group of individuals identified as the "NDC Youth of Obuasi," who were captured in a viral video issuing threats of violence ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
In a statement issued by the Police, the actions of the group are considered a violation of Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which pertains to offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace.
“The behaviour of the group constitutes the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace,” the statement noted.
The Police have assured the public that an operation is underway to apprehend the individuals involved to ensure they face justice.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, particularly in the lead-up to the elections, and urged the public to support efforts to create a peaceful electoral environment.
