Presidential Advisory on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has revealed that President Akufo-Addo will be the first person to receive the first dose of the initial consignment of COVID-19 vaccines.
Speaking on an Accra-based television, he said “President Akufo-Addo will be the first to be vaccinated,”
He added that the move is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccines are safe and any other reactions like headache, dizziness, or pains are all usual with every vaccination.
Dr. Nsiah-Asare also hinted that frontline health workers and all health workers will be part of the first batch of persons to be vaccinated.
He also hinted that Government is introducing digital applications and call centers for pre-booking of Covid vaccination.
“We are even thinking of introducing apps, so that people can book for the vaccinations. We will also set up call centers and send SMS to people on the dates and times of their vaccination”
Dr. Nsiah-Asare further appealed to the general public to avail themselves when it gets to their turn to vaccinate.
“We encourage everyone to avail themselves for the vaccine. It is safe and we want other Ghanaian abroad to also put out their videos to encourage others in Ghana”.
Ghana on Wednesday received 600,000 doses of covid-19 vaccines and is expected to begin the process come March 2nd.
