President-elect, John Dramani Mahama has taken a decisive step towards fulfilling his anti-corruption agenda by establishing a preparatory team tasked with spearheading efforts to recover stolen state funds and assets.
Dubbed "Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL)," this initiative aims to ensure accountability and restore public trust in governance.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team, confirmed this development in a press statement released on Wednesday.
He disclosed that the team, composed of prominent individuals with expertise in governance, law enforcement, and financial accountability, has been set up to gather and analyze information on suspected acts of corruption.
The team includes:
1. Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
2. Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
3. COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Former Senior Police Officer
4. Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
5. Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
“Anti-corruption formed a central pillar of the President-elect’s campaign promises, and this initiative signals his commitment to hitting the ground running,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
The ORAL initiative, he explained, will not only focus on recovering stolen state funds but will also ensure that individuals found culpable of corrupt practices are held accountable.
The team will receive and process information from members of the public and other sources to build actionable cases.
This move comes as part of Mahama’s broader governance reforms aimed at instilling transparency, restoring faith in public institutions, and deterring corruption.
“President-elect Mahama believes that addressing corruption comprehensively is critical to rebuilding trust in leadership and enhancing national development,” Kwakye Ofosu added.
The public has been encouraged to provide credible information to the team via designated communication channels as they work towards implementing this bold initiative.
This preparatory effort reflects Mahama’s resolve to make good on his pledge to create a more accountable and transparent administration.
