Prez. Mahama appoints Edmond Kombat as CEO of Tema Oil Refinery

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Edmond Kombat as the new Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR). The seasoned lawyer, entrepreneur, and energy expert is set to spearhead the refinery's transformation amid ongoing operational and financial challenges.


Kombat, whose extensive experience spans leadership roles in the oil and energy sectors, is expected to bring his expertise to bear in restructuring and modernizing TOR.


His appointment signals a renewed commitment by the government to revitalize the refinery and position it as a key player in Ghana’s energy industry.


Mr. Kombat expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him by President Mahama.


"I am honored to lead TOR at such a critical time," he said.

"With the dedication of the team at TOR and strategic partnerships, I am confident we can restore the refinery’s legacy and meet the energy needs of Ghanaians."


The new CEO is also the Founder and Chairman of the Edkom Group of Companies and a Co-Founder of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), where he served as Director of Research and Finance.


His proven track record in leadership and innovation is expected to drive private sector investment into TOR’s operations.


Kombat’s appointment underscores President Mahama’s vision for a robust energy sector to support Ghana's industrial and economic growth.
