Prof. Mike Oquaye to lead NPP’s investigation into 2024 electoral defeat

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a significant step towards addressing its loss in the 2024 general elections by establishing an 11-member committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye.

The decision was finalized during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Accra, presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim.

The committee has been tasked with investigating the factors that contributed to the party’s electoral defeat and providing actionable recommendations to rebuild and reposition the NPP for future elections.

This includes examining the party's internal structures, campaign strategies, and public engagement efforts during the election cycle.

“The NPP is committed to learning from its setbacks,” Stephen Ntim emphasized during the meeting. “We must address the challenges that hindered our performance and work towards a stronger, united front.”

As part of its mandate, the committee is expected to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including party members, grassroots supporters, and political analysts.

This collaborative approach is aimed at ensuring a comprehensive review of the party’s performance.

The committee is set to begin work immediately, with its findings anticipated to shape the NPP’s strategy moving forward.

Party supporters and members have been urged to cooperate fully with the investigation to ensure a thorough and impactful outcome.

This development comes at a crucial time as the NPP seeks to rebuild its base, restore public confidence, and prepare for future electoral battles.

Political analysts and observers are keenly watching the outcomes of the committee’s work, which could redefine the party's trajectory in Ghana’s political landscape.
