The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has called on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to provide an update on the stalled investigation into the 2019 murder of journalist Ahmed Suale.

In a tweet via his X account, the MP revealed that during his invitation to the CID headquarters last year, he identified a former high-ranking government minister allegedly linked to the crime.

According to Mr. Asare-Obeng, his identification was based on credible intelligence provided by a trusted source, which he disclosed in the presence of the CID Director.

Expressing frustration over the lack of transparency and delays in the investigation, the MP stated, “It appears the matter has been sidelined. The public deserves to know the current status of the case.”

He issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the CID to justify the need for more time or to disclose significant progress in the probe.

Mr. Asare-Obeng warned that failure to comply would compel him to summon the Ghana Police Service to Parliament for a briefing.

Additionally, he hinted at plans to take to his social media platforms to reveal details of the case, including the identity of the alleged perpetrator, should the CID fail to respond.

Ahmed Suale, a journalist with Tiger Eye PI and a close associate of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, was tragically shot dead in Accra in January 2019.

His murder sent shockwaves through the country, prompting calls for justice and accountability, which remain unresolved to date.

The MP’s demand has reignited public interest in the case, with many urging law enforcement authorities to expedite the investigation and bring closure to the matter.
