The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a “wanted fugitive”.
According to the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Ofori-Atta allegedly fled the country to evade corruption investigations.
At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that all indications suggest Mr. Ofori-Atta has absconded to avoid facing the OSP’s inquiries into alleged corruption during his tenure as Finance Minister.
“OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a wanted fugitive. Mr. Ofori-Atta, you have two choices: you can return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or face the consequences,” Mr. Agyebeng stated.
The Special Prosecutor also dismissed media reports suggesting that the OSP raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
He alleged that the supposed raid was orchestrated by the former minister himself as a ploy to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the OSP.
The declaration marks a significant escalation in the ongoing corruption probe involving the former Finance Minister, with the OSP vowing to take all necessary steps to bring him to justice.
