The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, has been vandalized for the second time in less than two months.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 am on January 13, 2025, with unknown individuals toppling the structure and smashing it from the head to the knee.
Police sources confirmed their prompt response to the scene but stated, “By the time we got there, the damage had already been done.”
The statue, which was unveiled on November 6, 2024, to honour the former president, had already undergone repairs in December 2024 after a gaping hole was discovered in the back of its left leg.

While some attributed the initial damage to structural defects, others suspected deliberate vandalism.
Eyewitnesses observed that the December repairs were carried out by two men and a woman under police supervision on December 18, 2024.
Despite its restoration, the monument has sparked controversy in the community, with residents questioning its relevance in the face of other pressing developmental needs.
The repeated vandalism has further deepened the debate, with many calling for a thorough investigation to identify the culprits and ensure such incidents do not recur.
