A group of pupils from Tema International School has paid a visit to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra.

The visit aimed to provide the students with a deeper understanding of Ga history, traditions, and leadership.

Led by their teachers and school authorities, the pupils had an engaging interaction with the King, asking critical questions about Ga heritage.

Michael, son of Ghanaian musician, Sarkodie, inquired about the role of the Ga Mantse as the Overlord of the Ga State.

Another pupil asked about the historical migration of the Ga people to present-day Ghana.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II took time to educate the students, explaining his responsibilities in preserving Ga culture and ensuring the development of the community.

He also provided insights into the historical journey of the Ga people.

The pupils also interacted with Nuumo Akwaa Mensa III, the Naaye Wulomo (Chief Priest), who explained the significance of traditional spirituality in the Ga State.

He educated them on the role of the Wulomei (traditional priests) and the symbolism behind their distinct attire at events and in daily life.

Additionally, Captain Nii Kojo Mankata IV, Chief Warrior of the Ga State, explained the meaning behind the official symbol of the Ga State—a deer standing on an elephant.

He stated: "The Gas are a small group living in the coastal belt. The elephant represents the entire country, while the deer symbolizes the Ga people. During colonial times, when there were wars and struggles, this symbol reminded us that though we may be small, we have a place in the larger nation."

The visit was an eye-opening experience for the students, enriching their knowledge of Ghanaian culture and the Ga people's role in national history.

The Ga Mantse later gifted the pupils with some souvenirs.
