The Minister for Information-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that all 16 regions have recorded active covid-19 cases.
According to him, Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western Regions are currently the most-feared hotspots.
Addressing Journalists in Accra on Monday, he said "Now we have a rise which is even higher than that the October and November one. The country is witnessing a surge in cases"
He also added that despite the rise, many people are showing symptoms and falling severely ill likewise a few who are asymptomatic.
“The asymptomatic is not something that everybody is having. We are having a higher percentage of people who are falling sick. And I think it is something critical that you have to let the public know so that more people take it seriously,” Kojo Oppong Nkrumah added.
The Minister for Information-designate also revealed that there are few beds for persons under critical conditions.
He also used the event to advise the general public to adhere to the protocols.
"It is very important that we ensure that the positive numbers go down. If this trend continues, we would be overwhelmed,” he stressed.
