"We See LGBTQI As An Abomination" - Alban Bagbin

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has stressed that the much-talked-about Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) is an abomination and something the Ghanaian Culture abhors.

According to him, the country will rather go according to its culture rather than accepting LGBTQI.

He said "Definitely, that (LGBTQI) is something we see as an abomination, something that we abhor and, therefore, we would continue to go according to our culture"

The Speaker also added that since Ghana can't impose certain behaviours on Europe, it is prudent, they (Europe) do the same to Ghana.

"We would definitely not go to Europe and try to impose on them something like polygamy" he mentioned

In another development, Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Andrew Barnes has clarified that the West is not trying to promote or encourage LGBTQI+ in Ghana.

He said "We do believe that sometimes culture is going to adapt to change"
