The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has emphasized the crucial role of directors in shaping policies and achieving the ministry's objectives.

Addressing directors in a meeting on Monday, February 3, 2024, he acknowledged their expertise and pledged to work closely with them to ensure sustainable management of Ghana’s natural resources.

"You will be my key advisors as I navigate this Ministry," the Minister stated, recognizing the directors as essential partners in decision-making.

He outlined the Ministry’s priorities, including restoring forest reserves and tackling illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

"We must create a path that will not destroy our water bodies," he stressed, underscoring the need for environmentally sustainable solutions.

Beyond policy, the Minister expressed his commitment to fostering a positive work environment.

"I intend to create an atmosphere that will make everyone excited whenever they want to come to work," he said, assuring the directors of his unwavering support, irrespective of political affiliations.

Welcoming the Minister, Chief Director Prof. Patrick Agbesinyale reaffirmed the dedication of the Ministry's staff.

“This Ministry means business, and we will work with you to succeed,” he assured, pledging the commitment of the workforce to the government's objectives.

In a separate interaction with the Ministry’s staff, Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah urged them to rise above partisan politics and remain committed to their duties.

“You are crucial to implementing President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the Lands and Natural Resources sector,” he said, encouraging professionalism and dedication.

The Minister assured staff of an open-door leadership style that prioritizes their welfare and career progression.

He also cautioned against acts that could undermine the government's agenda for Ghana’s lands, forestry, and minerals sectors.

Reiterating his stance on transparency and accountability, the Minister firmly declared, "I am not going to compromise in my position to condone illegality, especially illegal logging and mining."

His assurances and firm stance have set the tone for a renewed focus on sustainable land and resource management under his leadership.
